We meet once a week on Wednesdays, 6 to 8:15pm at 175 27th Street between Dolores and Guererro (for the first 4 weeks).

Most homework will be from the Ponto de Encontro Brazilian Activities Manual. This is the only "required" material for our classes (follow link to amazon site where the book can be purchased:

Students will have homework assignments to complete from week to week. In addition, I will provide supplementary materials by email (pdf and word docs) and hand-outs in class.

In addition to our Wednesday classes, we will try to meet once a month for more social gatherings where we can invite native speakers of Portuguese to practice conversation in a social setting, perhaps play games in Portuguese, share food and drink.

There are two payment options. One can pay $70 monthly (4 meetings), or $190 for three months (or 12 meetings).

How much proficiency with Portuguese is appropriate to participate in these classes?

If you have some proficiency with the preterit (pretérito perfeito) past tense, you are sufficiently prepared. We will begin with a review of the preterit tense followed by introduction of the imperfect past (pretérito imperfeito).
